Everyday thoughts, but not every day

Planted

The only noteworthy aspect of Roisin Clarke's missive is that the informative article which sparked her interest in my research was the same one that ignited Olivia Madison. Just think of it: one publication that's relevant to the fields of both oral health and plant science. What are the chances?

Yep, you guessed it…none. What are the chances that it's relevant to neither?

If you guessed 100%, then here, have a gold star and take it to the top of the class.

Once again, enlightenment is sought from my correspondent. Once again, I'm not holding my breath.

Until now, I've only noted attempts to hide tracking images intrinsically, by using—or cack-handedly misusing—the ALT attribute or with inline CSS. Roisin has added another level: an enclosing DIV element that is itself hidden with CSS. Sneaky snaky!

Dear Roisin Clarke, Thank you for your invitation to publish my unpublished research in your auspicious journal. If I may be so bold, might I enquire what it is about my work entitled "[completely irrelevant to the field of plant science]" that you consider to be relevant to the field of plant science? Thank you for your enlightenment. Sincerely,

If I thought that Amelia Williams' deadline was unrealistic, Roisin ups the ante with the same deadline…which passed two days ago. Bloody hell, what does she think I am? A time traveller?

It takes a big man to admit when he's wrong. And they don't come much bigger: I was wrong. Kinda.

Roisin may not be monitoring the collective inbox, but Amelia Williams is. And she's replied to my enquiry. Kinda.

By kinda I mean repeating the begging, and ignoring the actual question that I posed.

Dear Amelia Williams, Thank you for your reply, it is much appreciated. I am doing great, thank you for asking. I hope that you are too! I was puzzled what it was that your colleague, Roisin Clarke, thought about my work entitled "[irrelevant to the field of plant science]" to be relevant to the scope of Journal of Advancements in Plant Science.
