I think I've soiled myself

LOTR: CW-style

Years ago, I watched Peter Jackson's adaptation of The Lord of the Rings trilogy on DVD. Not being much of a fan of either Tolkien or anything over 90 minutes, I found it pretty hard work. It was fine in the end, although I've no real pressing desire to repeat the experience. But I may, someday.

In what appears to be a fit of we-need-something-to-fill-the-schedule, Amazon is bringing its own take on the LOTRverse to its Prime Video streaming service. But, other than we-need-something-to-fill-the-schedule, why?

Indications are that this will be a DiVeRsE and iNcLuSiVe reimagining of Middle Earth. I really don't understand the thinking behind dramatising a classic and widely-respected work of modern literature, with its own mythos based on centuries-old folklore, while changing core features that defined it in the first place. It seems disrespectful to both author and audience. But, it is what it is. (shrug)

Hey ho, if I need to see LOTR again, I have the discs of Jackson's vision. I've no wish to subscribe to Mackenzie Scott's just giving fund.

Nevertheless, this call-back to Batwahmxn made me laugh:

"The One Ring is literal perfection" "It will be... when it fits a woman."

I'm not a fan of J.R.R. Tolkien, and I'm even less of a fan of J.R.R. Token.
