Sore loser
Chinonye Chukwu, who wrote and directed Till, which garnered no nominations for this year's Oscars, showed magnanimity in rejection…by accusing Hollywoke of upholding whiteness and perpetuating an unabashed misogyny towards Black women
. This is despite AMPAS doubling its female and ethnic minority members in 2020, as well as mandating arbitrary diversity criteria for nominations in the best picture category.
Clearly, what Chukwu's identified here is the difference between quotas and real change; talking the talk rather than walking the walk, as it were. Either that, or maybe, just maybe, the voting members thought that other contenders were more worthy. (shrug)
