Most of it's boring

The sixth sense

Writing for BBC Future, David Robson explores the complexities of Chongvax hesitancy. To cut a dull story short, much of the reluctance is attributed to the 5Cs: confidence; complacency; calculation; constraints, or convenience; and collective responsibility.

To those, I'll add a sixth: cynicism. Specifically, disbelief that vaccination will have any real impact on the way that we're forced to live our lives at present, that vaccination is just a waste of time and money. More of my money flushed down the same drain as the testing every time a member of my family flies back to BoJo's playpen.

The only reason that I agreed to be vaccinated was to placate my wife, I wouldn't have bothered otherwise. I've had two shots, at no small inconvenience thanks to a piddling administrative pissing contest. But does full vaccination exempt me from having to wear a Chongmask on public transport, or while shopping? Like fuck it does. It's not as if anyone in power will set the criteria for when herd immunity kicks in, either because they don't know, or the cocks can only feel comfortable with an abundance of caution. (mask)

And when the next variant breaks the rules, flies under the radar, and mutates in a way that bypasses current tests and vaccines, our world leaders will collectively soil themselves and we'll be back to square one. Rinse, repeat.

If it doesn't make a real difference to my everyday life, what's the point? It's meaningless.

Hrmph and, indeed, bah!
