Protesters on the French overseas territory of St Pierre and Miquelon have attacked their MP, by pelting him with seaweed. Stéphane Claireaux took his ordeal stoically.
"I was waiting for the demonstrators in order to speak to them," he told the franceinfo news website. "There was a car loaded with seaweed, and people started throwing it at my face. It was like a stoning."
I suspect that M. Claireaux has never been stoned before. At least not in the being-pelted-with-stones sense.
Just like a real stoning, he had objects thrown at him. Unlike a real stoning, he was able to talk about it immediately afterwards. And walk away unhindered.
