And it's come to this

The new KKK

– FADE IN –

Kathleen Kennedy has upset a lot of Star Wars fans during her tenure as president of LucasFilm. Initially, by influencing film development under her control with identity-politics, and retconning the narrative to suit her own political viewpoint. More recently, by firing Gina Carano from The Mandalorian, over social media no less, for voicing personal opinions that were politically off message to those of Kennedy and her like-minded, left-leaning SJW goons within LucasFilm. Kennedy appears to champion strong women in Hollywood; but only as long as they hold, or at least signal, the same world view as hers.

At this point, I should make it clear that I'm not a Star Wars fan; I have no vested interest, and none of this affects me personally. I saw the first film in my early teens, when it was released in the late '70s. Although it was a passable way to spend the time, it didn't enthuse me to watch any of the sequels, let alone the subsequent prequels and whatever.

Irrespective of my indifference to it, however, Star Wars has a huge and passionate fanbase that's fully invested in its lore. Kathleen Kennedy, and the the people working under her, have little more than shat all over their beloved franchise, for no other reason than scoring petty points because they could. Not only that, but Kennedy has shown herself to be a hypocrite. Recently, things came to a head when she made a short video on behalf of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, which was downvoted to 1%—10k dislikes to 100 likes—and received comments that were none to complimentary about Kennedy, her impact on the franchise, and her leadership of LucasFilm. Comments and votes were disabled by the channel shortly thereafter.*

Subsequently, LucasFilm has been in a war of attrition with disgruntled fans on social media. As an outsider, this seems strange to me; I would've thought that passionate fans would be welcomed. They are, after all, brand ambassadors, and a guaranteed source of revenue. Furthermore, most companies would see the kind of leadership embodied by Kennedy, with her cronies acting as agents provocateurs on social media, as a toxic dumpster fire to be got rid of. But LucasFilm and Disney are pretty toxic entities themsleves. Not only that, but they virtue signal to the righteously-opinionated, vocal minority, not wider public opinion, let alone fans. So things are unlikely to change unless senior management feel it in their pockets. By then, it may be too late.

Welcome to the new world order, overseen by the Kathleen Kennedy Klan.

* This is just one of numerous videos on YouTube covering these events. In it, Anna That Star Wars Girl also touches on Kennedy's hypocrisy.

Note: This post is in no way meant to belittle the crimes of the Klu Klux Klan. It simply occurred to me that the thug mentality was rampant among those who signal their virtuosity. The only difference being that they destroy their victims with hashtags and non-personning.
