The UK's Supreme Court has ruled the Scottish government cannot hold a second independence referendum next October, without approval from the UK government. Scotland's first minister, Nicola Sturgeon, isn't happy; she'd prefer a free Scotland to be governed by Brussels rather than Westminster.
Ms Sturgeon tweeted that she was "disappointed" by the decision but respected the ruling of the court, and stressed that the judges do not make the law and only interpret it. She added: "A law that doesn't allow Scotland to choose our own future without Westminster consent exposes as myth any notion of the UK as a voluntary partnership & makes case for Indy".

Any English could've told her that the union isn't voluntary from 2014's referendum, when we weren't even given the opportunity to boot the whinging Scots out. Sturgeon and her fellow SNP grumpies seem to think that dissolution is a matter for only the Scots to decide. (mad)
