I think I've pissed myself

Pride!

No, not a hollow virtue signal over some physiological or psychological roll of the dice, an act of nature beyond control. This is about a real, genuine personal achievement; something that took hard work and dedication, not happenstance and grandstanding.

But not by me, dear reader. By my youngest daughter, Emily.

She started at her new school only last year. That was the first time that she'd played field hockey. She loved it, practised hard, and was a member of the C-team.

She also took part in The Duke of Edinburgh's Award (bronze). At the start, she had to set a personal improvement goal. At the close of the course, she had to review her progress against that goal, which was to improve her game enough to be promoted to the B-team and represent her school in competition.

And she does represent her school. As captain of the A-team! I don't know where she gets her overachieving from, but it's not from her father.

Well done, sweet-pea! I'm so proud of you!! (proud) (heart)
