A bridge too far
The building of Jeff Bezos' new megayacht in Rotterdam is causing a stir, because the historic Koningshaven Bridge has to be dismantled for it to leave the shipyard. I don't understand the problem: the bridge is a fairly ugly, industrial structure; and Bezos will pay for it to be rebuilt afterwards. At least he's using his disproportionate wealth
to the benefit of gainful employment.
But this comment, from one of the local cloggies, had me puzzled: It's a lot of nonsense of course. They wouldn't do this for us normal people.
Well, perhaps they might, if you too were pumping a bloody fortune into the local economy, to have a megayacht built there. You dozy huppelkutje. (pipe)
