The ramblings of a pseudointellectal…or a genuine idiot?

Hypertensive

The subject line of her email says it all. At least it would, if I understood it.

Subject: Come into the world of standard science with our journal

Sophia.B beckons me into the world of standard science with Archives of Clinical Hypertension. I just haven't got the foggiest idea what she means by standard science. It must be better than non-standard science, or she wouldn't be promoting it. Then again, I'm not convinced that Sophia's the sharpest knife in the drawer.

It seems like a strange way to open a solicitation: admitting to constantly sending invitations, and acknowledging that they're bothersome, yet expecting a favourable response. I suppose that I could throw together an article on the effects of mail-bombing on recipients' blood pressure. That might be within the journal's scope. But I cannot imagine that it would help the scientific world any more than any of the other garbage that she'll post to their worthless PDF repository.

Instead, I will simply add Sophia to my collection of junk mailers.

I don't know why she obfuscated her email address, bsophia5431@gmail.com; bots don't harvest addresses from the message body, do they? I do know that they scrape them from web pages, such as this and my scrapers' page, which she's also joined.

Welcome to the shitlist, Sophia.
