I think I've soiled myself

Breaking the rules

As I mentioned long ago, it's thanks to my perfectly-fitted tinfoil hat that I'm not part of the social network. I don't do F*c*book; Twitter; Instagram, or any of that other stuff. At one point, I did have a hardly-used, one careful owner YouTube account, but I bailed out when Google did a Monica Lewinsky, and came a'gobblin'.

Yet, I set aside my principles and created a Google account today, simply so that I could comment on a YouTube video. That incorrigible bonehead, Jeremy Hambly at TheQuartering, was blathering on about the Depp/Heard divorce fallout. He likened calls for the firing of Amber Heard from Aquaman 2, following Johnny Depp's firing from Fantastic Beasts III and replacement in the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise, to a tit-for-tat:

…the principle stands that she shouldn't be [fired]. If you didn't want Johnny gone, then she shouldn't be gone. I understand the tit-for-tat thing…

Jeremy Bonehead Hambly, Amber Heard FIRED & Faces 3 Years In Jail??!?!? Huge Aquaman 2 News For Jason Momoa & Emilia Clarke, TheQuartering

This kinda pissed me off, because Jeremy seems to have completely missed the point.* Not for the first time. So, after going through the grind of creating a Google account, with its very own throwaway fuqueue Google email address, I prepared my response:

Hi Jeremy, I realise that you're grinding out 8,000 videos a day, and that you don't have time to think about this stuff. But you really need to think about this stuff. Calls for Heard to be fired are not a case of tit-for-tat. She committed domestic violence, not only on Depp, but also her previous wife. This is simply a call for her to be held accountable for her actions. The same actions that Depp appears to be innocent of, yet has still been punished for.

For some reason, the submit button remained inactive and I couldn't post my comment. No error was given, and after several attempts, even obfuscating tit in case that was a YouTube unword, I gave up. Instead, I decided to write a pissy blog post. And here we are.

I also deleted my Google account, and returned to the safety of the unsocial network. At least the tinfoil hat still fits. (phew)

* To his credit, Bonehead does at least recognise that there's actual evidence of her being a horrible person in her personal relationship yes there is by her own admission she had raised her hands and been just a just an awful person, but he doesn't go so far as to do the joined-up thinking. That is, to differentiate between Heard's actual actions on the one hand, and her fabricated slurs against Depp on the other. He then questions whether normies who go to see the films will care about her behaviour, which is completely irrelevant. I don't think that Jeremy works from a script, it's all done off-the-cuff, otherwise I'd suggest that he fires his scriptwriter.

Bonus weirdness points [cue Twilight Zone music] I've just noticed that the time stamps for Bonehead's two quotes are 539 and 593. Spooky!
