And it's come to this

Best Bond? Not as bad as before!

Will Jordan, AKA The Critical Drinker, tips his hat into the ring with Who Was The Best James Bond? Answer: close, but no cigar.

Unlike that blithering idiot, Calvin Dyson, he gave the 001 nod to Sean Connery, and not to Roger Moore. Both of these decisions are correct. But that's about as good as it gets.

Regarding Brosnan, his 002, he says:

And what's most impressive is how easily he seemed to fit into the role. Other Bonds took a while to find their feet. Roger Moore was very clearly trying to act more like his predecessor in his first movie. And even Connery was a bit shaky at first. But Brosnan seemed to hit the ground running, like he'd been playing the character for years.

The Critical Drinker, Who Was The Best James Bond?

Reality check: As for Connery's start being shaky, he was going where no one had gone before. He literally had nothing on the big screen, with wide cinematic audience appeal, as a guide to what works, and what doesn't. Every actor following him has had a broad template to follow.

And, how he developed the character from there, is only one of the reasons why he's the best Bond.
