A gassed up mid

So much has been said, both on social media and in the mainstream media, about the utter failure of Disney's Snow White that I've pretty much stopped paying attention. It's all rehashing the same talking points.

I wasn't even planning to post anything more here until Deadline's Anthony D'Alessandro inevitably includes it among the top five bombs of 2025, around this time next year. Let's face it, 2025 would have to have some utter stinkers in the next three quarters for it not to make an appearance. I'm predicting that it'll rank above all others.

Much of the blame has been attributed to the lead, Rachel Zegler, although some of that's probably unwarranted. She only played a part in the disaster. Someone cast her in the role in the first place. Someone thought the whole reimagining shtick was a good idea. Someone didn't pull the plug and cut their losses when they had the chance. And she wasn't the only cast member to make divisive political statements.

Her problematic behaviour stems from a combination of narcissism and total lack of empathy. That hardly sets her apart in Hollywood, although how she helped the film tank so spectacularly might set her apart from Hollywood. She was hardly a major box office draw before, but now she's box office poison.

Oh well, ne'ermind. Fortunately for her, modern theatrical sound systems support pitch correction,* so as she goes on to tread the boards her fans can still be awed by her totes amazeballs talent innit?**

All this, though, is solely to recognise that our friend It'sAGundam has an apt epithet which sums her up nicely: a gassed up mid.
