What's that smell?

While reading about thoracotomy, as you do, I came across this question on Yahoo! Answers: How do doctors get passed the rib cage during surgery? Which seems pretty reasonable, despite the misspelling.

One of the responders addressed the question by banging his head against the keyboard:

An incision iz made 2 access d surgical site. Blood vessels may be clamped 2 prevent bleeding, n retractors may be used 2 expose d site or keep d incision open. The approach 2 d surgical site may involve several layers of incision n dissection, as in abdominal surgery, where d incision must traverse skin, subcutaneous tissue, 3 lyr of muscle n thn peritoneum. In certain cases, bone may be cut 2 further access d interior of d body; 4 eg., cutting d skull 4 brain surgery or cutting d sternum 4 thoracic or (chest) surgery 2 open up d rib cage. Ye gods! Its mother is a doctor, apparently. She must be so proud. Even so, she should educate her offspring against the use of TXT MSG SPK on forums. Because it makes him look like an imbecile; mother-is-a-doctor, or not.
