Most of it's boring

Sullied deals

I feel bad for nit-picking over an issue as serious as Indian muslim women being harassed on social media by bigoted trolls, for their religion and gender. But I'm going to do it anyway.

An app and website was created by socially-maladjusted arseholes to degrade and humiliate muslim women by offering them for sale, describing them as deals of the day.

"No matter how strong you are, but if your picture and other personal information is made public, it scares you, it disturbs you," another woman told the BBC Hindi service.

But the photos and personal information were gleaned from the victims' social media profiles, and were already in the public domain…put there by the victims themselves. The trolls didn't make the information public, they merely took what was available and repurposed it for their own nefarious purposes.

Once again, kids, if you don't want it to be abused, don't put it online. It shouldn't have to be this way. But, unfortunately, it is.
