Most of it's boring

Lil' ol' mathematician me

Over at MindYourDecisions, Presh Talwalkar presents a legendary test question, in which a fabulously complicated integral is solved using polynomial division—I didn't even know that was a thing—with the ultimate challenge of proving:

π < 22/7

You can achieve this much quicker by firing up your trusty calculator and typing the following:

22 ÷ 7 - π

The answer is 0.00126448926735, which is greater than zero and means that π is indeed less than 22/7.

If only all problems were this simple!

For anyone wondering what the point of this test question is, 22/7 is often used as an approximation for π.
