All's not what it seems

Hello hardly anyone

F*c*book and its subsidiaries, WhatsApp and Instagram, have been hit by a severe, global outage. In response, Twitter tweeted, in fun:

Twitter tweet stating “hello literally everyone”

How many people use Twitter, exactly? I'm pretty sure it's not literally everyone. (thinking)

According to Pew Research Center, only 23% of US adults admit to using Twitter in 2021.

Hmmm. In updating the story to subsequent events, Auntie Beeb overwrote the article that I linked to, instead of creating a new one. Fortunately, the Wayback Machine doesn't forget.

That's a bit naughty, Auntie; you old historical revisionist, you. It's not exactly an ethical editorial standard, and certainly not one that we'd expect from the world's most trusted international news broadcaster™.

You know that linking is a thing, so why change the essence of what people have linked to? Correcting minor grammatical errors is one thing, but changing the factual content is a whole different other! Furthermore, there is no indication that the article has been edited or updated, and when. (angry)

I've further tagged this post accordingly, in recognition.
