It's all gone to shit

The wheelchair heist

A 61-year-old shoplifter was shot dead by a police officer in Tuscon on Monday. Like his weapon, Officer Ryan Remington has been fired. BA-BOOM-TSCH!

Remington fired nine shots at Richard Lee Richards as he attempted a quick ponderous getaway…in a motorised wheelchair. It's not clear just how many of those slugs Richards took with him. But rumours that he was felled when his wheelchair failed to leap a chain-link fence have only just started…here, as a matter of fact.

"His [Mr Remington's] deadly use of force in this incident is a clear violation of department policy and directly contradicts multiple aspects of our use of force and training," Tucson police chief Chris Magnus said on Tuesday. "As a result, the department moved earlier today to terminate Officer Remington," he added.

I assume that by terminating Officer Remington, Chief Magnus is referring to his position on the force, and not on this mortal coil. It would be a little overzealous, if not outright hypocritical, for Remington to be terminated in the same way that he terminated Richards. Although it would serve as a strong warning to others, I guess.

According to a shop worker who was present, Richards, who had brandished a knife, said: if you want me to put down the knife, you're going to have to shoot me. How prophetic. Although, it would've been more dramatic if he'd attempted his getaway with: you'll never take me alive, copper!

Unfortunately for BLM and Antifa, Richards was only white. So there's no real excuse for them to riot. It remains to be seen what the American Association of People with Disabilities has planned, though.
