Will this madness never end?

Pooh flu

As the confirmation of new Chongvirus infections in Wuhan sends almost one million of its citizens into lockdown, two studies have offered compelling evidence linking the initial outbreak to the city's seafood and wildlife market. Together, they suggest that two variants were introduced into humans, from live mammals sold at Huanan Seafood Market in late 2019.

One of the researchers involved, virologist Prof David Robertson from the University of Glasgow, told BBC News that he hoped the studies would "correct the false record that the virus came from a lab".

As if that makes any difference. I don't care where the Chongvirus came from, the outcome was all that really matters. The importance of these studies is not in showing the source to be wildlife rather than a laboratory, but in confirming the origin of the plague to be President Pooh's pestilential sewer, and Wuhan to be its epicentre.

Not that China's nationalistic shitheads, either on Weibo or in Beijing, will acknowledge these findings in any meaningful manner. They'll continue to deny, and point the finger elsewhere. But it's good to have science to counter their rhetoric. So thanks for that, if nothing else, Prof. Robertson and colleagues. (thumbup)
