Will this madness never end?

The way of the wolf
(Lupine Publishers)

I've been contacted by Diana Smith, on behalf of Reproductive System and Sexual Disorders: Open Access Journal. Or should that be Open Access Journal of Reproductive System and Sexual Disorders? Lupine Publishers don't seem to care, so why should I? (shrug)

OAJRSD header OAJRSD
OAJRSD: masthead (top), and contact details (above).

And her lack of shits to give goes so far as using neither of the journal's stated contact email addresses in her message headers. In fact, the journal spreads its communications over at least three different domains: lupinepublishers.com; lupinejournals.org; and lupinepublishers-io.org. I simply don't see the point in that. (confused)

Despite the casual approach to its identity, OAJRSD—I'll go with the publisher's website rather than Diana's email—is certainly a quality journal: The manuscripts submitted are strict to Peer-Review process before publication to make sure that any manuscript published is scientifically authorized. Which comes as a huge relief, I'll be honest. I'd hate to think that they were just shitting out any old shit onto the interwebz.

Diana's clearly interested in receiving, among other things, case reports of, among other things, sexual disorders. Could this be one occasion where sending a dick pic might actually not get me into trouble? (thinking)

Clara Brooke is confident that I'll always be here to support her. I have no idea where gets that idea from. But should I not wish to participate, I'm to reply as Terminate. What I'd really like to terminate is her.

Still, at least I learnt that theranostics is a thing, so that's something I guess.

Peer Reviewed Journal of Forensic & Genetic Sciences

Not really worth a post of its own, or indeed a reply to the sender. Just noting it here to rag on the webcomic in question.

Firstly, the fields of forensic science and genetic sciences are enormous. And, while they certainly overlap in the area of DNA forensics, this is pretty tiny in comparison to their wholes. Consequently, a journal of forensic and genetic sciences seems to be trying to carve a niche that's probably best dealt with by journals specialising in either one of the disciplines. But I'd expect a predatory publisher to neither know nor care about such things; after all, their focus is on generating revenue, not service to the academic communities. Thus, finely dividing specialisms to create exploitable niches is part of the business model.

Secondly, I have never heard of a journal claiming peer review in the title. Is this some kind of you can trust us, honest injun! shtick?

Research and Reviews on Healthcare: Open Access Journal (RRHOAJ)

According to Deborah Daniel, Its time to comeback. I have to admit, I have no idea what that's supposed to mean. As far as I can tell, she's never been here before.

Whatever, she's delighted to update me on her webcomic's imminent spewing of shit onto the interwebz; as if it was something to be celebrated. And all she needs is two articles to complete this travesty.

So keen is she to have these items in time for the release of Volume 8 Issue 1, that she's offering a special one-time, me-only reduction of the publication fees to a mere $799. Sounds like a bargain!

I do hope my response is prompt enough for her.

Wow! $799? I could hire the services of eighty high-class Indian whores for that money, and still have change for a decent meal!
