I have no idea who Dr Reuben Rosenberg is. This could be a solicitation either from him, or for him. But I'm assuming that he knows more about
precious engineering
than I do, which wouldn't be difficult, since I didn't even know it was a thing until I saw this beauty from International Journal of Precious Engineering Research and Application in my inbox.
You'd be forgiven for thinking that precious engineering was a lucrative occupation, but ₹1000 is only a little under $13, although publication charges for authors outside India jump to a whopping $60. Considering some of the fees demanded by scalpers publishing in other fields, this seems like bargain basement pricing. I guess precious engineers have to make do with a job title that sounds better than it pays. (shrug)
Incidentally, those lucky Indian authors not only get a reduced fee compared to their international colleagues, but a swift turnaround time to boot: Fast Publication within 48 hrs in fees 1000 INR Only
. Which suggests that the peer review process must be highly optimised

Anyhow, other than the ornate email design, the thing that really caught my attention was when trying to use the tracker URL to locate the mail template.

This bears some of the same hallmarks: the retro table structure; the irrelevant, to me at least, name in the subject line; and the noreply
From
header. It's missing the pretty colours, but you can't have everything. (shrug)

Now it's the turn of Dr Ronald Bleday to be name-checked.
Similarly attractively-formatted email, and this time for a subject matter that actually means something to me; in that I (think I) understand what it is, not that it's dear to my heart. I'm assuming here that global statistics has something to do with advances in engineering and management. (shrug)
Oh, and the tracking URL didn't lead to a dodgy site warning. So that's progress, I guess.

Same beautifully retro-designed email, harkening back to turn of the century websites; same suspiciously precise impact factor; different campaign domain. And now IJAEM is name-checking Dr. Anuj Kapur; I have no idea why, presumably it's with his consent. Unless they think that I am he, in which case it isn't.
