And it's come to this

Is this what creative apathy looks like?

Disney is to bring another of its animated greats to life. Verily, the uncreativity at the House of Mouse is unbridled.

After Aladdin; Beauty and the Beast; Cruella; Mulan; Pinocchio; Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs; The Jungle Book; The Lion King; and The Little Mermaid—have I missed any?—comes Moana. A film that was originally released long, long ago; all the way back in…2016. Really, Disney? I mean really?

Unlike the Brothers Grimm and Hans Christian Andersen's heroines, this one's unlikely to be race-swapped; Disney's CEO, Bob Iger, would actually factually shit himself if that were to happen. Besides, its star, Dwayne The Rock Johnson—the current go-to for a family-friendly person of (not too much) colour—would never approve. So, this might be more of a remake than a reimagining; that's something…I guess? (shrug)

Hollywood writers are concerned over the use of AI to create content, and it's not difficult to see why. They don't fear competition per se, so much as competition that's as (un)talented at a fraction of the cost. If AI can only generate content based on what's gone before, then a cynic might think that Disney's remake programme is an argument in its favour, if not an actual experiment in progress.

I've also heard plans are afoot to buttfuck Lilo & Stitch into life. At least I have the original on disc. (thumbup)
