Everyday thoughts, but not every day

Acid tongue

Claudia Webbe, ex-Labour and currently independent MP for Leicester East, has been found guilty of harassing Michelle Merritt, between September 2018 and April 2020, with, among other things, threats of acid and sending naked photos of Merritt to her family. The basis for these attacks was a relationship that Merritt allegedly had with Webbe's partner, Lester Thomas.

Webbe claims that a recorded phone call, in which she repeated get out of my relationship eleven times, was simply her asking Merritt not to break Covid-19 lockdown rules with Thomas. She was, she maintains, only explaining that they were breaking the rules.

I'm not aware that the Australian police has gone as far as threatening acid attacks to enforce pandemic restrictions. So Webbe seems to be taking lockdown adherence far more seriously than even the boyz 'n' gurlz in blue down under. They must be wondering why they'd never thought of such an effective approach to maintaining civic obedience!

It appears that the dishonourable member did not threaten to throw acid. OzPol could've been first to the drop after all.
