All's not what it seems

Pain meds

Sansa H advises me that You have more opportunities for future collaboration. And it's always good to have opportunities, isn't it?

Well, isn't it?

Apparently, they're searching for relevant researchers and professors, and I'm a person to whom we searched for, whatever that means. I have absolutely no idea what it is that makes me relevant to Open Journal of Pain Medicine though. Just sheer bad luck, I guess. (shrug)

Now, although she claims to be based in the USA, I'm not sure that's true. There's just something about the language that's too garbled, even for Los Angeles. Unless, of course, she's on military-grade pain meds herself.

Otherwise, I suspect that Sansa H may not be being totally honest. And that pains me, because how can we build a long-term scientific relationship based on deceit? (sad)

The root of the pain

About us Peertechz is a private limited company involved in publishing Open Access Science and medicine related journals. The company is run by a team of dedicated editors, reviewers and authors. We also operate from Hyderabad, India. Over the years, Peertechz has evolved into one of forerunners in the publishing industry . We continue to lead through the visions of technology, medical sciences and innovation.

Peertechz Publications

Peertechz contact details show the offshore US subsidiary first, and the Indian HQ below that
Offshore, onshore, what's the difference to a gutter-level publisher?

The publisher—and I use that term very loosely—Peertechz [sheesh!] Publications, also operate from Hyderabad, India. Yet, that's exactly where the company's headquartered! It doesn't also operate from Hyderabad; it operates from Hyderabad, and also has a Los Angeles mailbox.

Notice, though, how its contact page gives prominence to its offshore subsidiary. A cynic might think that this presence was only to offer them an air of credence. A swish office mailbox in LA sounds far more sophisticated, and reputable, than a grubby Indian sweatshop. Funnily enough, Suite 1101 at 10880 Wilshire Boulevard is still available to rent, in 100 sq.ft.; 350 sq.ft.; and 1002 sq.ft. flavours.

But 918 is not a Californian area code. In fact, (918)-675-7441 is listed in Commerce, OK. (confused)

California 90024 or 94002?

Peertechz isn't the only company that pulls this type of bait-and-switch.

Remedy contact details show different area codes for phone and fax
Are we California Dreaming or goin' back to Massachusetts?

Remedy Publications also has offices in California and India, although it claims the Belmont bordello to be its editorial office. The Hyderabad whorehouse is, supposedly, its offshore office. As if any truly reputable US publisher would choose Hyderabad as an offshore location. (SMH)

No, Hyderabad is where the company and its domain name are registered to Reddy Kumar, who's presumably the CPO of the company. So to describe this as offshore is disingenuous at best, if not a barefaced lie.

The contact details for the editorial office, or mailbox, appear to be a mashup of incompetence and deceit. Area code 415 does, indeed, serve CA; but San Francisco, not Belmont, which is area code 650. Area code 617 serves the other side of the country! In fact, although (617)-993-0390 is listed in a Belmont, it's Belmont, MA. It seems that a naive Indian scam merchant may not have realised that USAsians reuse their place names. (LOL)

I wonder how many Belmonts there are in the US. (thinking)
