Doris the Minor

Today I learned, through a combination of web forum surfing and Wiki-whacking, that Herod the Great's wife was named Doris. Or, more accurately, one of his wives—for he had several.

If it sounds more like a Wackypeedeeyah fact than a historical truth, then the netpaedia records next to nothing about Doris herself. Nevertheless, I found it funnier than I should have, really.

Wackypeedeeyah lists Herod I of Judea's wives as: Doris; Mariamne I; Mariamne II; Malthace; Cleopatra of Jerusalem; Pallas; Phaidra; Elpis; and two whose names are unknown. Presumably, Doris didn't contribute enough of historical note, other than Herod's first son and being exiled, to warrant her own entry.
