A Bridge Not Far Enough
Yves Bot, advocate-general to the European Court of Justice, has said that the card game bridge is a sport and should be exempt from VAT—sales tax.
Notwithstanding the fact that this has yet to be decided by the Court, I find myself rather excited. Until now, I have associated sport with exertion and sweat. The fact that bridge can be played online means that not only do I not need to exercise to be sporty, I can actually be in full-on sport mode while sitting in front of the computer with a beer. Yayyy!
I just need to learn how to play it, again. I tried to learn a few years ago, and all I remember is that it's rather complicated. (sad)
