Rings of Pooper
Amazon Prime's high-budget/low-rent take on Tolkien's Lord of the Rings mythos, The Rings of Power, has had a bumpy ride getting to the screen. But it's even bumpier now it's on screen; or at least those that are tuned in to the streaming service.
I'm not a Tolkien fan, nor am I an Amazon Prime subscriber—and I'm unlikely to be at this rate—so the stanning and slamming in the mainstream and social media has left me unfazed. Nevertheless, writing for the financiers' go-to, Forbes, senior contributor Erik Kain has posted some savage reviews.
This is not some malcontented Tolkien fanboi account on social media, but a relatively prestigious business-focussed magazine. In that context, comments like these aren't sensationalist, they're brutal! And I think it's funny to see the hubris of the creatively bereft being shown for what it really is. (LOLZ)
