What's that smell?

Wackipaedia

Anyone who believes what they read in the news is affected by the objectivity, or otherwise, of those who deliver the news to them. Journalist, editor, publisher, and others may all have a bias, overt or not, that will affect the message.

And this applies just as much to open source or egalitarian information sources such as Wikipaedia/Wikipedia. Perhaps moreso.

While I've always had a healthy distrust of Wakipedia, tales of edit wars make me distrust it all the more. And that's leaving aside the deliberate hoaxes—the 2000-years-old slippery floor signs are a personal favourite!

The trouble is, some people believe whatever they read, even on the interwebz. (SMH)

I was partially responsible for a misinformation prank on Wikipedia a few years ago…and it's still there, tee hee!

After I discovered a couple of rapid edits to have been made on a Wikipedia article today, I checked my [cough] contribution to the world's knowledge base. An additional ten years later, and it's still there. Not only that, but a likeminded soul has played on it, in a way that suggests we have a shared history. Bonus!! (thumbup)

I guess if you fly low enough, you stay under the radar.

Awww, you're my little homunculus.

And I thought I'd expand upon the entry for homunculi in popular culture:

Homunculi appear in fantasy based television, film, and games in a manner consistent with literature. Examples can be found in numerous mediums, such as…The Big Bang Theory (season 3, episode 3), played by Johnny Galecki

Wackypeedeeyah!, Homunculus

Strictly speaking, it's (almost) true, as Sheldon calls Leonard a homunculus in The Gothowitz Deviation:

  • Sheldon: That doesn't seem likely. Her bed's of sturdy construction. Even the addition of a second normal-sized human being wouldn't cause a structural failure, much less a homunculus such as yourself.
  • Penny: A homunculus?
  • Leonard: Perfectly-formed, miniature human being.
  • Penny: Awww, you're my little homunculus.
  • Leonard: Don't do that.

I'm such a naughty boy! [hugs self]

Oh, get over yourselves, none of it's malicious. And in this case, it's true…kinda…ish.
