Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella is sad that people are thinking of AI slop as slop. I'm pretty sure his antipathy has nothing to do with the great unwashed rejecting M$'s forcing of AI into everything Windows. As if that was the only thing wrong with SlopOS

Tech sites are rife with tales of dissatisfied users moving to Mac, Linux, and even upgrading to Windows 7. Although I don't understand why moving to another unsupported version of M$OS is a good idea, even if it is the last great version of the operating system.
We have just one Windows box here, and that's only for legacy business compatibility. When I purchased it in 2013, it was running Windows 7, and it's now on version 10. It couldn't run 11 anyway, thanks to M$ gaming the system in favour of hardware with TPM 2.0 chips.
It'll continue as it stands until it falls over. Then I'll install Linux to see if that will work for us.
But, given all the nasty shit that comes with Windows 11—ads and AI everywhere and no local accounts so M$ owns your identity, data, and arse—I'm damned if I'm going to replace it with another Windows box.
The harsh reality
For all the fulminating over the enforced changes that Windows 11 brings with it, and users publicly spitting the dummy, it's probably worth keeping a sense of perspective.
According to Micro$lop's 2025 annual report, its Windows and Devices segment accounted for $17.3bn of its $281.7bn total revenue—i.e. 6.1%, which is down from 6.9% for the same period the year before and 8.1% in 2023.
The segment includes Windows OEM licensing, which is impacted by, among other things: Customer mix between consumer, small and medium businesses, and large enterprises.
I couldn't readily find the breakdown between the three customer sectors, but I'm guessing from left to right they're in order of increasing stability and decreasing crankiness. That is, large enterprises are more conservative and less likely to rile against the changes being implemented; they also have greater influence when it comes to getting special treatment.
Of the consumer sector, most of them are sheep. They accept what they're given, for they know no better and care just as much. For them, a computer is just a thing to help them get other things done. They don't hang around geeks or geek sites, so they're blissfully unaware of the furore. Besides, they have no choice, sometimes it's made for them: I recently purchased a Windows laptop for my daughter so she could attend college; the college specifications mandated a Windows computer no more than three years old, so what else am I going to do about it? 
It's safe to assume, therefore, the malcontents who're ditching $lopOS for Linux or MacOS represent a tiny fraction of a fraction of that 6.1% revenue stream. As long as they're doing it for their own benefit, all well and good; but if they're doing it to stick it to the man, then I suspect that they're howling at the moon.
Either way, Sat(an)ya is unlikely to lose too much sleep.
