Glen Powell's publicity team continues its efforts to make his a name to be reckoned with.

In July of last year, the BBC's Christina Newland asked: Glen Powell to Zendaya: Are genuine movie stars being born again? Then only in December, Variety's Brent Lang and Rebecca Rubin lamented the disappointing theatrical performance of Twisters, citing feelings that Warner Bros had failed to capitalize on Powell’s star power.

Those are just the examples that have come to my attention. Now, the BBC's Caryn James namechecks him first and foremost as a Hollywood A-lister in her recommendations for September's goggle-box viewing, opening with:

From a new FBI thriller by the creator of Mare of Easttown to a sequel to The Office and a sports comedy starring Hollywood A-lister Glen Powell.

Clearly then, his is the most illustrious name coming next month to a streaming service near you. Nevertheless there's a bevy of Hollywood wannabes who'll also be available to grace your screens, should you so wish:

They must feel honoured to be counted alongside him.

James begins our introduction to Chad Powers flatteringly enough: Glen Powell has plenty of big film options, especially after last year's summer blockbuster hit Twisters. Which is interesting, because her culture colleague, Nicholas Barber, gave it a ★★★☆☆ review:

Though it features charismatic actors and thrilling sequences, Twisters doesn't have much plot – instead, like its predecessor, "it just has bland characters driving into bad weather, over and over again".

And, as mentioned above, Twisters did not enjoy a stellar performance at the box office, at least not outside the US where it pulled in less than a third of its $372M global haul. It probably lost money on its production budget of $155M. Of course, it goes without saying that that wasn't Powell's fault.

Besides, I thought he was fine as H NGM N in Top Gun: Maverick, the only entry to his filmography that I've seen. Nevertheless, his publicity team needs to get a grip. Really.
