It's all gone to shit

UPF-free?

As an experiment on behalf of BBC Food, Lauren Potts gave up ultra processed foods for a week, just to see if it could be done and what the consequences were. And she did it! Or did she?

She links to several recipes on—where else?—BBC Food that helped her through the ordeal. And very yummy they sound too.

But did she forgo the UPF ingredients used and substitute with purer versions? Canned chickpeas may be more of a processed food than a UPF, dunno, but what about peanut butter? Or puffed rice/cornflakes/bran flakes? I'll give her a break, and assume she used tomato ketchup and mayonnaise made from scratch.

Still, the take-home conclusion is one that was screamingly obvious from the outset: everything (processed) in moderation.
