All's not what it seems

A dog with no name

RAF Scampton—the home of 617 Squadron, The Dambusters—has replaced the gravestone of the squadron's mascot, a black Labrador named Nigger, who died on the night of the famous raid on the Ruhr dams in 1943. Squadron Leader Guy Gibson, whose dog he was, named him because, at the time, nigger was not a derogatory reference, rather simply the name for a shade of black.

Time and sensitivities do funny things to language, and now it's a name that cannot be spoken. The BBC wouldn't even name the poor creature in the article, they're so shit-scared of offending anyone.

It strikes me as a double standard, as well as rewriting history, that some things are no longer reportable based upon arbitrary revisionism by the thought police.

Hell's teeth, I bet no-one would raise an eyebrow if Dave Chapelle named his dog Nigger.*

But all of this has only served to remind me of 'Cause there ain't no one for to give you no pain (SMH) (mad)

* In his stand-up routines, at least that I've seen, it's one of only two words he uses to reference his children. The other being motherfucker, which must please his wife no end.
