Shock news: 'stunning and brave' isn't money

My earlier prediction for Disney's commitment to boy-on-boy lurvin' may yet come to pass.

Despite Chloé Zhao's hope that Eternals wouldn't be edited to remove the queer kiss, it appears that not everyone at Disney holds true to the principle of stay woke even if go broke. Money is, after all is said and done, money; so scenes that offend Arabic sensibilities will be duly excised where possible.

The backdown on stunning and brave really only applies to the release in UAE; Lebanon; Jordan; and Egypt, for which all scenes of intimacy will be removed, not just Haaz Sleiman and Brian Tyree Henry's snogging. Other Arab nations have bigger issues that cannot be accommodated so easily. But, then again, money; so who knows?

Having been born in UAE and raised in Lebanon, Sleiman will surely understand. It may be a bitter pill to swallow, but the Disney dollar can buy an awful lot of sugar.
