The 2021 Darwin Awards have got off to a good start.

Twenty-year-old Timothy Wilks had a great idea for a prank to gain YouTube clout. He and a friend decided to stage a robbery on a group of people outside a family trampoline park in Nashville, TN. Carrying large knives, the duo approached the group, one of whom, in fear for his life, shot Wilks dead.

This follows the fatal shooting of Pedro Ruiz in 2017, when he thought that a thick book would stop a bullet fired from a Desert Eagle semi-automatic pistol, from a distance of 30cm/1ft. His girlfriend, who fired the shot, was pregnant at the time with their second child, so the idiot Ruiz had already spawned. His entry to the awards was, therefore, invalidated.

Hopefully, Wilks was weeded out of the gene pool before he had the opportunity to procreate.

Happily, the shooter/victim hasn't been arrested and charged in Wilks' death. But I cannot help but think that he, and any innocent bystanders, which will likely include small children, may still suffer mental distress. For no other reason than a stupid YouTube prank.
