And it's come to this

Lady A at war with Lady A

Following the death of George Floyd, and amid a reappraisal of racially insensitive practices, country trio Lady Antebellum changed their name to Lady A. Which is unfortunate, since Anita White has performed under that same name for two decades. Now Lady A(ntebellum) are suing Lady A(nita).

Thus, a white group, named after the pre-civil war period, a time of slavery in the southern states, takes the identity of a black artist. The fact that they're changing their name because of claimed racial sensitivity just adds to the irony. This isn't simply racially insensitive, it's tone deaf. But tone deaf's gotta be par for the course in country music circles.

For her part, the real Lady A, a self-declared Pacific NW diva, went all-in with an Instagram post asking:

How can you say Black Lives Matter and put your knee on the neck of another Black artist?

Lady A, Instagram

Which seems a tad histrionic to me. So, definitely a diva then! (rolleyes)
