Missiles, target,...?
After initially denying its involvement, Iran has admitted downing a Boeing 737 belonging to Ukraine International Airlines in January.
The government in Tehran initially said the UIA plane had suffered a technical problem shortly after take-off. It cited witnesses including the crew of another passenger plane who said it had been on fire prior to impact.
None of which was untrue. What they carefully omitted was that the technical problem was having been hit by two of their missiles. And it was on fire because it had been hit by two of their missiles! (rolleyes)
Diplomacy is all about lying careful use of language.
