Jussie Smollett has been sentenced to less than six months in jail, of a maximum possible three years on each of five counts, for fabricating a race hate crime. But not everyone believes that Illinois' inmates should have to be more careful with the soap.(jussie)
"Jussie should not be incarcerated," his brother Joel said. "He is not a threat to the people of Illinois."
The same applies to tax evaders. What of it?
It's all very well and good supporting your kin, but confirming to the world that you're clueless is going above-and-beyond. Jail time isn't just about removing threats to society, it also serves to punish the criminal for the crime that they've committed. Do keep up, Joel.
For his part, the other J. Smollett continues to protest his innocence.
Following the sentence, Smollett said: "I did not do this!"
Jails are full of innocent people. But there comes a point when even a professional pretender should realise that no one believes the charade anymore.

Back in 2019, Smollett's attorney suggested that the Osundairo brothers could've worn whiteface to disguise themselves, which, she argued, explained why Smollett thought that his attackers were white. With the best will in the world, that's a reach and a half. The brothers are Nigerian, and don't have nostrils that could pass as Caucasian, no matter how white they're painted.
Still, three years later, it made me laugh. So, thank you, Ms Glandian! And, with a reach like that, you could earn good money 'neath the Queensboro Bridge.*
