There aren't many people who can claim to be impelled by ferevent scientific curiosity. Jennifer Brown is one of the lucky few. And I have to admit to feeling somewhat envious.

The mail headers show different domains for the From and Reply-To addresses. This is fairly common among the predators; it allows them to circumvent block sender rules, while maintaining a single recipient address or domain. Curiously enough, though, the manuscript upload site and the email's tracking pixel are hosted on a completely different domain altogether: authorshipubhub.biz, which itself forwards to Annex Publishers. It may surprise you to know that Annex Publishers' contact address is in Manassas, VA. Although, judging from the timestamp of her email, Jennifer's working remotely…10½ timezones to the east remotely. Hey ho.

As an aside, the alt attribute to the img tag gives the text to be displayed in the event that the image cannot. This is why most skeevy tracking images leave the value of this attribute empty, so as to help obfuscate the image. Jennifer, or her IT support, has given it the value of none, which will not have the desired effect. Tee hee! (slaphead)
