It's all gone to shit

Golden meltdown

I've just discovered Meltdown (Ocean Man) by Problem Being vs The Golden Azdha AKA Heel vs Babyface.*

The track is based on Az from HeelvsBabyface's rants against garbage writing and identity politicking in bottom-tier CW shows, particularly Batwoman. In the video, his face is superimposed onto various artists to surprisingly good effect.

Together, it would be enough to leave The CW's talent all crysies, if they weren't so impervious to criticism. After all, they're still churning out the same dreck, even though the latest viewing figures would give most self-aware individuals serious cause to carefully review their options. Dougray, I realise that giving up the role of Wolverine for Mission: Impossible II—the Electric Boogaloo of the franchise—must've been a bitter pill to swallow, but it's still not too late to salvage your career, and your dignity.

As an aside, Batwoman has been renewed for a third season, despite falling ratings. The most recent episode, s2e6, garnered only 456k viewers and a 0.1 18–49 demo. The title of that episode? Do Not Resuscitate…seriously! The next two upcoming episodes are entitled It's Best You Stop Digging and Survived Much Worse. Perhaps it's a sign of someone within the writing team having both an edgy sense of humour and an awareness of the show's ratings?

Anyway, back to Az's meltdown:

WARNING! NSFWOC

Being old-school, I first thought that the superimposition of his face was achieved with some pretty slick rotoscoping skills. Apparently, though, it's deepfake. I have no idea how that works in comparison to traditional video compositing, so it might as well be magic as far as I'm concerned. Impressive, and hilarious, nonetheless.

Just don't let the children watch it, unless you can afford the inevitable counselling sessions.

When Az's face is superimposed onto I-have-no-idea-who, the result disturbingly resembles Greta pass the vinegar Thuntimes breaking character. What's strange, though, is that you never see the two of them in the same room together. (thinking)

How dare you! Thuntimes in one of her lighter moments.

Meltdown (Ocean Man) is available on all major streaming and download sites, with 75% of the proceeds going to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention.
