Let's start at the very beginning
The WHO has introduced a new naming convention for variants of the Chongvirus. Following complaints from the Indian government, that the Indian variant was being referred to as the Indian variant, the WHO has introduced Greek letters to remove the stigma associated with country names. From now on, the variant first identified in the UK will be Alpha, while the Indian variant will be Delta, and so on.
Excuse me? What about the version that started this whole pandemic, why isn't that one designated Alpha? You know, just to make it clear where the Chongvirus originated? Or would that upset the WHO's Chinese paymasters?
But here's another way of looking at it. Since the variants are derived from the originator virus, the originator itself isn't a variant as such. Therefore, it's referred to separately from the new variant naming convention.
How about Chongvirus zero?
