Madame Web saves Morbius

poster for Madame Web Sony Pictures Entertainment Inc.

Sony continues to mine its Spider-manless spiderverse, following up Venom and Morbius with Madame Web. Like Morbius, it hasn't gone down too well with aficionados and critics. But, for those of us who enjoyed the vampire flick, within reason, and who're getting fed up with it constantly being dragged by the spiderverse dweebs, it appears that Madame Web has come to the rescue. It's been even more critically panned, and could perhaps become the new benchmark for comic book film dreadful. Shitbag, even The Marvels comes off better.

The film stars Dakota Johnson, best known for getting it on, and them off, in the Fifty Shades travesty trilogy travesty:

Johnson plays paramedic turned superheroine Cassie with as much swagger and attitude as we’ve come to expect from the clothed portion of her career.

Roger Moore, Movie Review: Dakota Johnson gets entangled in “Madame Web”, Movie Nation

As the daughter of Don Johnson and Melanie Griffith, Dakota Johnson is, I'm led to believe, pretty much the definition of nepo baby. Her co-star Sydney Sweeney, a mid blessed with a generously proportioned chest, has been described as well-known for two things, neither of which being her acting. (boobies)

Morbius and Madame Web may have been written by the same hacks, but at least the vampire film had some acting talent to play with. While I've not seen their more recent effort in full, the clips and trailers hardly entice me to alter that state of affairs.
