Will this madness never end?

'Racist' royals

Okay, so we all know that the marriage between Prince Harry and actress Meghan Markle was not without controversy. And then a baby came along.

An author whose book triggered a row over allegations of a racism within the Royal Family has said the naming of two people in one edition was not a deliberate publicity stunt. Omid Scobie told BBC Newsnight he did not know how a Dutch translation of Endgame came to include the names. Two royals are reported to have asked about the skin colour of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's unborn baby.

To me, that sets a pretty low bar for racism per se. Then again, the white man's burden doesn't include skin pigment fragility.

But it was still enough for Auntie Beeb to withhold the names of the accused from the more inquisitive among us. All it took, however, was a brief search on the interwebz to find that Piers Morgan had no such qualms, and had named the alleged racists as none other than Old King Cock himself, and Princess Katie. It's good to know that the citizens of the UK have at least one news source that's willing to cover stories without fear or favour. Even it it is only Piers Morgan. (SMH)

I can't imagine that Charlie's a racist though, either real or imagined. He's about as inoffensive as magnolia wall paint, or Laura Ashley; i.e. almost offensively inoffensive.

The Cranberries released their debut album, Everybody Else Is Doing It, So Why Can't We?, in 1993. Thirty years later, Seddon et al. have taken cues from its title—and because the information is already out in the public domain—to update their story without fear or favour:

An author whose book triggered a row over allegations of racism within the Royal Family has said the naming of two people in one edition was not a deliberate publicity stunt. Omid Scobie said he did not know how a Dutch translation of Endgame came to include the names of King Charles and Catherine, Princess of Wales. They are reported to have allegedly discussed the skin colour of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's unborn baby.

So we got there in the end. Brave old Auntie Beeb. (slowhandclap)
