The voice, the hair, the legs
Tina Turner has passed away. She was only 83, which is no age really.
I have to admit that, while I enjoy her earlier R&B classics—River Deep, Mountain High; Proud Mary; Let's Stay Together, etc.—her career revival in the '80s descended into banal, plodding AOR dreck, which really didn't appeal to me in the slightest. And, yes, by that I do mean The Best; What's Love Got to Do With It?; and We Don't Need Another Hero. Great voice, dodgy taste. Hey ho.
At a 1987 Taj Mahal concert, Bob Dylan challenged John Fogerty to perform Proud Mary live onstage: Hey, John, if you don’t do these tunes, the world’s going to remember ‘Proud Mary’ as Tina Turner’s song.
Although I like Turner's cover, I prefer Creedence Clearwater Revival's original.
