All's not what it seems

Well that's a little ironic!

Since divulging the existence of PRISM, the US National Security Agency's operation to spy on US citizens' telephone calls, Edward Snowden has become a person of interest to the US judiciary, and probably other more clandestine bodies. So he's reported to have applied to Ecuador for asylum.

So far, so mundane.

Apparently, however, the first modern extradition treaty signed by the US, in 1872, was also co-signed by…Ecuador.

Nothing more than a casual observation, really. Sorry to have troubled you.
