Gmail: false hope
24 February 2024

Some naughty individual(s) spread a hoax on X that Gmail was to be shuttered in August. Google rushed to publicly confirm that, unfortunately for those of us deluged with Gmail spam, this was not the case and its users can continue to spew shit into our inboxes.

DIE, Google, DEI
15 February 2024

Melonie Parker is Google's chief diversity officer, in charge of sociopolitical checkbox-based hiring. She joined Omose Ighodaro in the BBC's Executive Lounge, boasting Google's DEI credits in How Google is sticking to – and soaring past – its DEI goals. Breaking Bard
9 February 2023

Google managed to wipe more than 7% off its stock value when its new AI platform, Bard, didn't perform as well as might've been expected in a recent demonstration. Asked what it could tell a nine-year-old about the James Webb Space Telescope's discoveries, it responded with it being the first to take pictures of a planet outside the earth's solar system.

Doesn't ad up
8 August 2021

Many moons ago—over eight years' worth, in fact—I lamented Google's inability to use HTTP headers to detect language preferences. Things haven't changed much, if at all, since then.

An open letter to Google

Dear Google,
