Most of it's boring

A confusion of conferences
(Scientific Meetings AKA Magnus Conferences)

Predatory conference organisers are a confusing lot. There are so many of them; but are there, in turn, so few? Confused? Read on, or not, your choice.

The problem is that these organisers, or rather disorganisers, use a plethora of domain names. Yet similar domain names may be registered to different companies. It all seems so unnecessary, from the perspective of being above board and genuiney committed to academic discourse.

Take, for example, the case here of Plant Science 2023. I don't think I've come across scientificmeetings.net before; mind you, the domain was only registered last August! And its web presence is not secured with an SSL certificate.

search for sciconfmeeting.biz shows a relocator ro Magnus Conferences
Google returned only four hits for sciconfmeeting.biz.

The upload link, on the other hand, is sciconfmeeting.biz, another non-secure site. Searching for these domains gives a skeevy whiff of Magnus Conferences; which, incidentally, also uses the scientific-meetings.com domain amongst others. So why not just use domains that are already under the MC umbrella? I suspect, without any hard evidence to support me, that this is an attempt at obfuscation, which has to be seen as a trust alert. As if any more were needed.

Anyhow, I'd love to revisit Singapore sometime; just not for some low-energy, zero-value conference. Despite Jyothika Martine's reassurance that I can look forward to a meaningful experience with plant scientists from around the world, that's only likely if they're beautiful, hot, and uninhibited. (wink)

These are not generally characteristics of women attending scientific conferences. (sad)

Food Technology 2023

A prestigious event on Food sounds yummy scrummy in my tummy! (yummy)

Personally though, a conference on food science and technology—or simply food technology, who knows?—is a lot less enticing. Actually, it sounds disturbing; I try to avoid processed foods as much as possible.

Although Jyothika Martine was pretending to be US-based, and Elena Watson is [cough] in the UK, I'm putting this here because we all know that they're both bed-banging in the same Hyderabadian whorehouse.
