This is my truth

Harry, pocketed

Audacious thieves have stolen a 500lb, 12' stuffed polar bear, affectionately named Harry, from a resort property in Alberta, Canada. Although the resort has round-the-clock security patrols, they'd been cancelled that night due to the extreme cold. Clearly, the thieves are more dedicated to their work than the security staff.

Showing an almost tragic lack of imagination, or extreme caution in not wanting to join the ranks of police-talking-bollocks, Alberta RCMP Cst. Kelsey Davidge called the crime The Heist of the Big Polar Bear, but then let herself down a little:

Constable Davidge said police are hoping someone may see the stolen polar bear pop up for sale online, or come across it in the community. As she notes: “That would stick out right away, If you saw that anywhere, right?”

Jana G. Pruden, The Globe and Mail

Yeah, I guess you could say that, Cst. Davidge. If nothing else, the cost of postage would be exorbitant!

Rumours that he was stolen to order, on behalf of a museum [cough] definitely not situated in the British Isles constable, start HERE!

Possibly a true story, possibly a figment of my lousy memory.

Stephen Fry voiced the Harry Potter audiobooks. When he read the first novel, he wasn't convinced that there would be a second, but agreed to the project anyway.

There's a point at which Harry picks up an object, and puts it in his pocket: Harry pocketed it. Fry kept stumbling over the words, but when he suggested changes, J.K. Rowling—retaliating against his earlier dismissiveness—told him those are the words she wrote, they won't change, he was a professional actor, and he needed to get it right. Fry acquiesced, finally succeeding.

The two became friends. And in every sequel, Rowling included an instance of Harry pocketed it.
