It's all gone to shit

Megacorp vs megagovt

M$ is to separate its Office and Teams application packages, in face of antitrust investigations by the European Commission.

Over the past decade, Microsoft has racked up 2.2 billion euros ($2.4bn; £1.9bn) in EU antitrust fines for tying or bundling two or more products together. If found guilty of antitrust breaches, it risks a fine of as much as 10% of its global annual turnover.

I'm no M$ fanboi, far from it. Office is fine, and Teams is better than Zoom, but I hate using Windows for many and varied frivolous reasons. Nevertheless, there comes a point when fines imposed by the EU and US amount to little more than gouging.

And none of that appears to be to the benefit of the customer or taxpayer. Rather, it's a levy to prop up ever needlessly growing bureaucracy.

I guess I just dislike politicians and big government more than M$. Who'd've thunk it?
