Sandals taken from Cueva de los Murciélagos, a cave in Andalusia, south-west Spain, have been identified as Europe's oldest shoes, dating back 6,000 years.
If they'd been found in Britain or Germany, they would've been accompanied by Europe's oldest socks.
Despite being British and aged, I personally consider the socks & sandals combo to be one of the all-time classic style faux pas, right up there with baseball caps and tucking your T-shirt in. I really don't care if fashionistas claim otherwise.
