The Met policeman's balls

Yet another Metropolitan Police officer is convicted of rape, and the question facing the force is how many more are lurking within its ranks? In this case, Adam Provan was convicted of raping a sixteen-year-old girl over a decade ago. Obviously, the Met's taking the case very seriously; at least now, anyway.

But that wasn't always the case. A female Met Police officer heard the victim's impact statement during an earlier trial, and it struck a chord, for she'd also previously been a victim of the accused.

During the third trial this year the court heard that the female officer told Met bosses Provan had raped and abused her years before Lauren's case, but had effectively been told to keep quiet about it for the sake of her career.

According to Assistant Commissioner Louisa Rolfe: We are examining Provan's criminal and conduct history in the Met so we can fully understand whether we could have acted sooner to bring him before the courts.

Oh, I dunno AC Rolfe, you could start with your Met officers, who protected one of their own by throwing another one of their own under the bus. Just a thought, throwin' it out there! (pipe)

There was a time when British police officers could be trusted to stick to doing their jobs: falsifying statements; intimidating witnesses; fitting up suspects; and sexually harassing police dogs. They hardly ever shielded bent coppers, or used intimidation to muzzle honest ones.
